Stroller Friendly #2: A Great Oak Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Geo Baby: Today is my birthday. I'm 4. I bet Mr. Hemlock remembers that and sent me this message as his special way to wish me a happy birthday today. It also makes Mommy let me use her computer, since it's my birthday and all.

Mommy and Daddy keep arguing about the best container to replace this cache, cuz the "waterproof" ones that Mom gives me to put there keep getting wet, and Daddy has all these containers that aren't small enough to hide, and those blinkie-thingies on Daddy's dresser would just fall into the hole and I'd have to bum another ride out here to replace it. Daddy wants to change the hide site, but I didn't do it that way, so I don't wanna and Mommy is backin' me up. It's complimicated, so I'm going to see if someone else has a better idea for here. Besides, then we'll have to come back and I'll get to play...

Geocache Description:

The second in a series of hides that Geo Baby and I will roll out over the next few weeks. This one is a cammo-taped container slightly smaller than a film canister.

Geo Baby and I have been trying to get out and about in places that are close to home and allow us to take the stroller around to find caches. (It can be hard to bend down and search for caches while Geo Baby is in the front pack.) Sometimes finding caches requires me to go just a little farther away from the stroller than both Geo Baby and I are comfortable with. We've decided to place a series of caches that are stroller-friendly (although some may not be cacher-friendly, necessarily) and don't stray too far from the pavement (e.g. less than 10 ft).

I'm constantly amazed at how the Mountain View-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara area has changed in the last decade or two. Three years ago, after a 15 year period living elsewhere, I returned to "the homeland". I used to know this area like the back of my hand. I constantly get lost in developments now (good thing I have a GPSr!). I am glad to see that they've thought to put parks in these high-density areas. This cache is in a newish park, where the developers have obviously allowed some old oak trees to stand around all their bulldozing and building. Not much else stands in this park, though, which made finding a good hiding spot a challenge. As with Stroller Friendly #1, there's no good cover from non-caching patrons of the park. The park is listed as closed after sunset.

Hint after first to find.
