Sycamore Cycling Stash Series # 4: Where the Clark Connector trail meets Ranch Center Road.
The caches in Sycamore Canyon more than a couple of miles from a trailhead are visited only every few months. They must be too far for most hikers to reach them, so I'm starting a series of caches that are on the central trails. The objectives of putting these caches are

1. To give mountain bikers some caches that are more than a few minutes from the trailhead
2. To give hikers who like long hikes some more caches
3. To provide more caches to encourage more cachers to venture into the heart of Sycamore Canynon
4. To encourage cachers to take up mountain biking to make it easier for them to get to these

Of course all cachers are encouraged to seek these out whether they arrive by bike, foot or horseback. In fact, some of these caches will be on trails that are closed to bikes so you won't be able to reach them on wheels! Also, bring some caches of your own to deploy while you're looking for these. There's plenty of room, and more deployers makes for a more interesting day of caching!

The terrain rating is high because of the distance from a trailhead. These caches are all near firm and well-travelled trails. Trailheads are listed on "Sin Nombre Crash Corner" GC1KGYR (visit link) .

Sycamore Canyon is part of the majestic Pt Mugu State Park and is immediately west of the Boney Mountain State Wilderness Area. You can find detailed maps and trail descriptions at VenturaCountyTrails.org on this page (visit link) . Print out the map and bring it with you to find the quickest way through the park.

You're are looking for a small plastic bottle, camo'd. It's about 10' from the trunk and 6' up.

Saw this location from the Hidden Pond trail. Took some looking but the clues helped a lot. TFTC

Nice spot to take a short break before heading west in search of yet another cache.

I was nauseous from the heat and GZ was the perfect spot to take a very long rest. Two equestrian volunteer rangers ("MVP" on baseball caps, wannabe law enforcement uniforms, armor on horses' legs to stop snake bites) stopped by and said, "we see you hiding." I was in plain sight sitting on a log facing the trail. Whatever... When they were long gone I made the quick grab. TFTC!!

Out for an after-work hike to clear my head.

I had originally planned to hike more of the Hidden Pond Trail today, but I got a late start from home and it was farther down here from NP than I thought it would be. By the time I got here I had reached my turn-around time. So I took the connector and headed back down to the main road.

The coordinates were about 30 feet from the cache. Are they still the old coords? I had to use the hint to find this. TFTC.
