Geocache Description:

This cache is a Letterbox Hybrid - one of a set of letterboxes that we are hiding in Santa Cruz County to celebrate the Four Seasons of the geocaching year! Unlike most caches, Letterboxes are designed to encourage artistic expression rather than trading of trinkets. For more about the pure form of Letterboxing go to Letterboxing North America.

The coordinates above are to the place you need to exit from the fire road, so you will need some of the directions below to find the cache OR you can do this without a gps in the way a Letterboxer would. The cache you seek will be a small tupperware container containing a logbook, pen, rubber stamp, and stamp pad. PLEASE RETURN ALL OF THESE ITEMS to the ziploc bags and reseal the lid on the container before rehiding. This location has serious moisture issues.

Other guidelines:
- In the logbook identify yourself and the date of your find. Include with your entry your personal rubber-stamped impression, sticker, doodle OR a poem about the season you are visiting.
- Stamp your personal logbook with the rubber stamp you find in the cache.
- Please do not leave trade items in the cache.
- If the logbook becomes full, wet, or the stamp pad becomes empty, etc. please let me know in your online log or by email and I will come to replace it.

Directions to the cache...
- Park near the Pipeline Rd. entrance of Henry Cowell State Park, off of Graham Hill Rd. Watch out for sink holes!
- From the green gate you will walk .27 mile on the paved road.
- At that point, where the road curves right, watch for a culvert drain on the right side, that flows between two tall redwood trees. Follow the faint path you see before you, over soft forest mulch and sorrel. The path is sometimes overgrown or washed out so look ahead to pick up the trail. The total distance for us was 48 steps to the cache from the road.
- On the path you will pass a fused group of redwoods on the left. Continuing downhill a bit you will see two large redwoods with a small redwood in the middle. Take the path through and look in the area on the right. Search the bottom parts of this tree for a hidden “door” to the cache.

WINTER
One day when it's winter When the tall redwood groans in northern winds When cruel frost creeps white beneath the bark And twigs once sappy and green Shake brittle and dry in the darkening Then come to my door Let yellow light spill out Let me wrap you in warm Let summer kisses bring back roses What wingspan glides in the blue August skies Soar and circle Paired in gentle harmony, one other Melt, then-- Be with me
