Warning

Please note: To use the services of geocaching.com, you must agree to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

As the name of this cache suggests, this is a rather extraordinary creation of Americana past. It is a delight to see and even more so if you stop and look around inside. The food is great too. Bring your appetite and some souvenir spending money for more fun. I love to do the same whenever I am down that way.

To be able to log this cache you need to prove to me that you were there and follow the instructions below.
To get your answers visit the fruit stand/ deli between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. any day of the week. The restaurant is open until 10 p.m. but they may not know the answers for the first two questions. The owner of the restaurant bought the fruit stand/deli in April 2004 and is aware of the game. As of 4/24/04 there are answers to questions #1 & 2 by the cash register at the fruit stand.

BEFORE YOU LOG, YOU MUST EMAIL US YOUR ANSWERS:
1. When was the world's largest artichoke built?
2. What is the hieght and width of the artichoke?
3. What did you eat or buy at this cache site? -OR- just tell us about a unique food or gift item you saw there. - OR -
4. Post an original photo for this cache and email me just one of #1-3.

Please do not cheat by looking up answers on the internet. Besides, they give the wrong answers and be forewarned that I delete entries which have not gotten approved to be logged.

Enjoy! - Chickasaw (of ynots4)

4:00pm-ish - I've stopped by hear countless times, and even several times since caching. But for whatever reason, never got the details needed to claim this cache find. Today, on the way back from Carmel Beach with the GeoRetrievers, we stopped to grab some veg, and I got the info needed (which has been emailed to the CO). Even though the GeoRetrievers were crashed out after their big day on the beach, I drug them out for a picture in front of the attraction!
#541 - Thanks!!!

Webfoot and I stopped here for a late dinner at the end of a long drive up from the LA area to Santa Cruz to pick up his son at UCSC. He had grabbed this virtual some time back, so after a nice dinner - all-you-can-eat salad for me, with lots of artichoke hearts and garbanzo beans ; artichoke soup and salad for him: I thought the soup to be a waste of good artichokes - I picked up a couple of postcards for Postcrossing (google it; it's a neat idea), and then gathered enough info to qualify for the Find. The fruit stand was closed when we got there, even though the sign said that it should have been open for another 15 minutes, so I guess they close a bit early if there isn't enough business. Hope you like the photo; it makes a good night shot. And there are at least five Waymarks on this thing! Thanks for keeping this virt going; I enjoy doing Waymarks, but they just aren't quite as much fun as a good virtual

This was the last find of the day on the way back to San Jose with RoadKill (and Wildbun, who had already logged this cache). Wildbun snapped the photo of me and RoadKill in front of the artichoke (see RoadKill's log) and I've emailed answers to the questions to the cache owner. Really a cool bit of folkart! Thanks for the cache!

A quick and fun find with geo-chik today - a little too early to try the fried artichokes, but what a cool place - answers emailed and photos posted - thanks for bringing us here.
