The town of Rossville (right on the GA/TN line/ adjacent to
Chattanooga) is named for Cherokee Chief John Ross who was an early
settler, first post master of the town, and 'participant' in the
Trail of Tears. His two-story house is at the edge of this little
city park, which also features a springs and pond heavily visited
by birds, ducks, even sometimes a swan. Moderate Muggle-presence;
mostly people feeding the waterfowl.
The John Ross house itself is only open occasionally, and is
fenced off. This little cache is outside the fence and available
anytime, although technically the park is closed after dusk. Free
parking within 100 feet.
The (new 11/24) cache is a small plastic container, state
quarters and log-sheet. Please bring your own pen/pencil. Bring a
trash bag too; good opportunity for CITO-action, plus that will
explain why you're walking around where you are, with your back to
house...
