You will require: good calm weather, a full day, a small boat and you must get wet, overland is virtually impossible. Easy to find once you get in there!
Fern Grotto is located on the Eastern cliffs of the big lake and should be attempted with great care. You will need to swim or wade in from a very small boat like a sea-kayak and the weather must be very calm. You are miles from the nearest boat ramp and a power boat will not be able to approach the site. The coordinates are 10 feet off shore as the cave is too deep for GPS to work.
The cache is hidden well above high water and contains a good variety of cool stuff, including a genuine Rubicon Miniature waterfowl handpainted artist model dating from 1985.
