The Mil Mi-2 (NATO reporting name is Hoplite) is a small, lightly armored transport helicopter that could also provide close air support when armed with 57 mm rockets and a 23 mm cannon.
The Mi-2 was produced exclusively in Poland, in the WSK "PZL-Swidnik" factory in Swidnik, being the only soviet helicopter, produced outside the USSR. Production ended in 1985 after about 7,200 were made.
It was first introduced into the Soviet Air Force in 1965. The Mi-2 is used by mainly former Soviet and Eastern Bloc countries, although it is used by Mexico and Myanmar as well.
Most of armed Mi-2 variants were used by Poland. Some were also used by the former East Germany (with machine gun and unguided rocket armament only).
There were many variants of Mi-2, including some military, passenger/cargo, rescue/ambulance, sea, argicultural, training, and special utility models. (some info was taken from Wikipedia)
A few decades ago there was a helicopter plant testing field here, so in 1999 it was decided to erect a monument in honor of the helicopter designers. The helicopter is placed on the street, named after its creator, aircraft designer Mikhail Leontievich Mil (Aircraft Designer Mil's street / Ulitsa Aviakonstruktora Milya). In front of the aircraft you can find the monument to Mil himself.
