Geocache Description:

Three-stage multi cache. Begins near "La Boca" Arch, east of Arches NP, accessible on good dirt roads to about 1/4 mile (4WD can make it all the way). Actual cache is near a secret arch, 1/2 mile hike further on.

If you're in the area of Arch's NP and looking for a fun, half-day, family-friendly adventure away from the crowds, this is it. It's about an 1 1/2 hour drive from the entrance to Arches; if you're on the way to Arches from the North, it's about an hour drive from Green River, UT, and about a half-hour hike each way.

We travel to Arch's NP several times a year, and had been wanting to explore the area east of the park. We heard about "La Boca" arch, and another, smaller, "secret" arch nearby. So, looking for adventure, and armed with ammo can, a few other smaller containers, a travel bug and assorted goodies, my older son, who loves puzzles and geocaching devised this multi-cache. It requires little navigation but some scrambling on slickrock. The intrepid will be rewarded with discovering "Harold's Arch", a small pothole arch near the top of a sandstone hill.

THe direction below are to "La Boca" arch, and the coordinates are to the 1st clue (a green, card-sized plastic container), right near there, which contains the coordinates to the 2nd clue (a blue, card-sized plastic container), which contains the coordinates to the final cache, the original contents of which are: Big bouncy ball
Multi-cache geocoin
Yellow marble
Bat Ring
Minature car
Lego meat
Lego minifig
Light up skull
Slot machine key chain

Go to Exit 193 off of I-70, which is 11 miles east of Crescent Junction (where you turn off for Moab and Arches NP). The exit is signed "Yellow Cat." Exit I-70 and turn south. Follow the graded Yellow Cat Road southeast for 6.2 miles to a fork. Take the left fork. Continue following the road for 2.1 miles to the Yellow Cat Mine Ruins. The ruins are located on the east side of the road. This is a fun area to explore

From The Yellow Cat Mine Ruins follow the road east for 1.0 mile to a fork. Take the right fork and follow the road 2.6 miles to a fork. Take the left fork and follow the road 3.1 miles to a junction. Take the right fork and follow the road 2.5 miles to a junction with several roads. Carefully driven passenger vehicles and high clearance vehicles can normally reach this junction without problems; beyond this point the road becomes a serious 4x4 track. From the junction you want to locate the track that leads east, through the fence, and immediately heads due north.

Follow the track north to the base of La Boca Arch.
