The South County Trailway is a 14.1-mile (22.7 km) long trail stretching from Van Cortlandt Park in The Bronx to Elmsford in Westchester, NY. Construction started in the 1990s and was completed in 2011. Most sections of the trailway are paved. This was once the part of the New York Central Railroad system.
Poison Ivy is very common along this trail, but I did my best to avoid it.
The cache is a bison tube. You will not need venture too far from the path.
The Saw Mill Parkway has some beautiful bridges and overpasses along its path. This is not one of them. It does however provide a platform for graffiti. Some of it is not bad (all a matter of perspective), but it is regularly removed. The fence here should keep you from falling into the "ravine".
Parking is available at the posted coordinates.
