This cache is hidden top of Mt.Gongen Dake. Mt.Gongen Dake is located in the northwest from the center of Nagasaki City. A big rock called “Tateiwa” stands on the mountain.(see pic #1) ”Tateiwa Big Rock” is an object of worship of Tateiwa Shrine.
There are two routes going to the cache area.
The first route; You must hike from the parking lot of Inasa Park for about 1 hour. Inasa Park is a famous sightseeing spot of Nagasaki City. From the parking lot climb to top of the grass skiing ground. There is a pavilion. You follow the GPS from here, and walk along a ridge.
The second route; When you use the second route, get on a bus to the entrance of the trail. There is not a parking lot there. JR Nagasaki station bus stop > Sarayaki bus stop(Nagasaki bus for Koebaru New Town or Aikawa via Haruki-cyo) about 15min. You come back a little from the Sarayaki bus stop. You will find the yakiniku-restaurant there. Beside the restaurant, there are the stairs of the trail entrance.(see pic #2) It is the uphill way which is slightly tight from there for about 30 minutes. You find the Tateiwa Big Rock in the right side of the trail when you climb about 20 minutes. The top of the Mt.Gongen Dake is made of one big rocks. The expert skill is necessary to climb the rock directly. To avoid danger, you go around the right side of the rock, and go to the top.
The north side of the top of the mountain is a steep cliff. You must pay enough attention.(see pic.#3) Please enjoy a view from the top of the Mt.Gongen Dake, While being careful to your steps.
