Hidden on a rugged trail in Federal Way's little known undeveloped
Poverty Bay Park.

Do you remember the scene in
Jurassic Park where Wayne Knight (Newman) is struggling to connect
the winch of his jeep to a tree to pull his jeep back onto the
road? He struggles back up the slippery slope to his jeep in that
scene but the trail has degraded to a big sloppy muddy mess. You
may find yourself replaying this very scene on the way back to your
own vehicle. In fact, I believe that this may have been filmed on
this very path. I didn't bother to dig for the shaving cream can of
dinosaur embryos but no doubt it is there somewhere. Of course my
impressions may have something to do with the fierce windstorm that
was hitting the area as I made this hide. There were actual trees
falling as I scrambled back out of the woods.
There is tons of free room in
this big 5-gallon bucket so if there is some big swag item or
bowling ball travel bug you always wanted to get rid of, this might
be your chance.
I have included a hint photo
that should help you a great deal on your quest. Please don't
hesitate to use this photo as it may prove very helpful. The cache
is hidden about 10-15ft from the trail in one of the few places you
can actually get off of the trail.
One of the challenges that I
had in getting into this area was in finding a legal place to enter
the park trails without crossing private property. I will let you
enjoy that challenge too by not sharing the parking coordinates at
this time. Please don't share them in your posts as we want all to
enjoy that challenge. There is a good place to park legally and
enter directly onto the trail about ¼ mile from the cache.
