Bzerk Park+Rec Orphans #06: San Pablo Park Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Krypton: As there's been no response to my previous note, I assume that the cache is not going to be repaired or replaced, so I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us, and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it

Thanks for your cooperation!

Geocache Description:

This is your basic simple multi: a magnetic laminated card, containing coordinates to a nearby (in the same park) plastic vial, 2" diam x 4" tall, in one of Berkeley's cache-less parks.

This is the 6th of what I hope to be a long series of hides that I place in Berkeley parks that don't have caches (and are eligible for caches). I wanted to do some more hides; Berkeley has many parks without caches... seemed like a good match. I am seeing a lot of Berkeley's smaller parks, and noticing things that I might not have seen otherwise; perhaps you hunters will appreciate this, too. With its land having been purchased in 1907, this is the City of Berkeley's oldest park. It boasts a huge span of turf, with large fields for baseball/soccer/football, plus tennis courts, a community center, basketball courts, picnic areas etc. The (working-class) neighborhood values it, and the "Friends of San Pablo Park" are notably active. When I first scouted this location, on a Friday night in October, there were boys of all sizes holding several individual football scrimmages; their parents seemed friendly and happy. I found several possible hiding spaces, and eventually realized that I could combine the best two of them into a multi (That first one is no longer part of this hide.) Anyway, the Russell St. Bike Boulevard runs along the southern edge.

Berkeley parks are open from 6am to 10pm (unless otherwise posted). Please represent responsible Geocaching, and respect the rules of the park.

The initial cache is a camo-taped 35mm film canister magnetized laminated business-card sized sheet, containing the coordinates for Stage 2. Please put it back with the lid downwards, for best camo and maybe waterproofing.

The actual cache is a 2" diam x 4" tall plastic vial, similar to BzP+RO #2 (Ohlone Park). Small trade items only.

You may find parking for some of this series to be somewhat challenging. I encourage you to find out how bikeable/walkable/transit-able (most of) Berkeley's parks can be. (The ones that are hardest to transit/walk to have the easiest parking; funny how that works out. %-} )

FTF: Erickson! Congratulations!
