Geocache Description:

BYOP. You will not have to enter the cemetery to make the find. Watch for muggles. Cache should be winter-friendly. I recommend parking on the road and walking to GZ. Short walk across fairly level terrain. Feel free to explore the cemetery grounds but please be respectful of the property.

Boylan Cemetery is located in the SE 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of Section 22 in Tipton Township, Hardin County, Iowa. It has been designated as a pioneer cemetery. The 1883 Hardin Co. History states it is first cemetery in Tipton Township and was on land owned by W.W. BOYLAN. The first burial was Ida Dilts, daughter of George W. and Lucinda Dilts, who died of typhoid fever, in 1859. A cemetery association was incorporated  in the spring of 1880.

NOTE:  there is a gravestone for 1850, three years before Hardin County was formed. It is for Lucy French, wife of James Jones.
