Posted coordinates are for the parking lot. The lot might be closed if
there is a major event at the RBC center. This lot is authorized parking for the
Loblolly greenway trail. If the lot is blocked and nothing is going on at the
RBC center, do what I did and contact the Raleigh Parks Department!
Micros...some people love them..others hate them! This cache is for all the
micro haters out there! This cache will give you a chance to get away from those
concrete jungle micro caches! The container is a LARGE
ammo can. Please note : I did not say full size ammo can or 1/2 size
ammo can. All ammo cans are full size unless you modify them. The size is based
on the type of ammo and configuration of the ammo.
The cache is located at N35 48.XXX W078 43.YYY
You will begin your journey at N35 48.056 W078 43.532. At this location
you will see a trail marker that says START.
This will be your starting point. The first portion of the trail is paved, but
it is just a short section. Follow the chain link fence. Once you cross the
small section of concrete, the trail goes to the left. Trail is not well marked.
There are some trees and posts along the trail painted with white (and sometimes
blue) markings.
At N35 48.264 W078 43.550 you will come to a 1/4 mile trail marker.
It is about .25 miles from the start marker to the 1/4 mile marker. Divide 418
by the bottom number of the fraction that is written on this post. Multiply the
result by 4. This will be XXX.
At N35 48.473 W078 43.554 you will come to a 1/2 mile trail marker.
It is about .5 mile from the start marker to the 1/2 mile marker. Multiply
516 by the fraction written on the 1/2 mile trail marker. Multiply your result
by 2.This will be YYY.
Enter the woods when your GPSr says you are about 180 ft from the cache.
Before you enter the woods, think about the clue. You may see something along
the trail that will clue you in!
Use caution as you approach the cache. There are many fallen and rotting logs
in the area. The cache container will only open from one end. The cache contains
lots of paperback books. Please bring one to trade. Also put it in a ziplock!
The CACHE is also well stocked with goodies
for the kids.
