Beautiful viewpoint on the coast.

In the early 1800s, this site was used as a shore whaling station and subsequently as a lookout for spotting whales for the Wheller Brothers' Station at Caroline Bay. Also the site of Pearless Town, an early immigrant receiving centre.

At the posted coordinates you will find a number of historic items associated with early coastal activities in Timaru. The plaques will reveal information required to locate: 1) The S coordinate for the final cache, and 2) The final location.

You will not need to enter any private land nor cross any fences in solving and accessing this cache. (Some fences are there to protect you from the cliffs)

The Rotary Plaque about Patiti Point was placed in 199C

Where was the anchor found? XX km North and X km off the coast - add all the digit Xs together to get D.
Old Timaru Main School was built in 18E4.

The South Coordinates are decoded by a plaque at: S44 24.A(B-2)(C+2), E171 15.552.

Once at the Plaque, the Sunday mentioned occurs on LK th January.

Ah, yes. A few cars gone off the cliff in recent weeks. And a new fence would stuff up Waypoint 2. Okay - I'll try and find some time to go and check.

Trying do this on holiday this week in Timaru however couldn't find Waypoint 2 - tried looking outside the square but was stumped. It does look like a new fence has been put up so not sure if that is why we couldn't see waypoint 2 . Great views from the locations though.
