Geocache Description:

You are invited to Sailing 2012 - The Opening Ceremony Event cache at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy on Saturday 10th March from 1200 onwards

This Opening Ceremony is to announce a series of 60 Puzzle/Unknown caches to be released on 31st March and created by 5 local Weymouth-based geocaching teams. These caches will be depicted on the Geocaching web-site map-view as 5 rings superimposed on Weymouth Bay. Each ring will have a bonus cache and with the collection of these five bonuses, will lead you to the overall Final cache with prizes of Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.

The Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy have very kindly given us a room for our Event. The Academy is situated at -
Osprey Quay
Portland
DT5 1SA
(or at above coordinates)

There is a cafe at the Academy, but not a bar. Food and drinks will be available, but numbers in advance will be required, so please indicate in your logs. Children welcome. The Cafe overlooks the harbour and, if the weather is kind, there is an outside balcony. (There is a Laser 4.7 event scheduled for the same weekend)

We will be assembling in Room 5, on the groundfloor level, at 1400hrs.

There are facilities for the disabled.

Parking is free - it is probably better to use the overflow carpark on the RHS of the road upon entering - please see coordinates.

This is a very unique opportunity to visit an Olympic venue and our grateful thanks go out to the Academy for the opportunity to visit the site.

Finally, you might ask who are 2012 Sailing Rings? We are TEAMKWEST, Team Beavo, Harleybandit600, stki40-50 and j4pos.
