Welcome to the Bridges of Rockland County Travel Bug Hotel!
This cache is located at the junction of Torne Brook Road & Torne Valley Road where you'll find a small stream, dam & pond. The town recently built a new bridge here to replace the older single lane bridge that had become dilapidated. For some reason they left the old bridge intact & I don’t think they intend to remove it.

The cache is near the two bridges. There is no need to venture off into the woods. There's parking right on the shoulder of the road on the either side of the bridge or you can park at the Joseph T. St. Lawrence Center located at 115 Torne Valley Road and walk.

Be careful when accessing the cache and put it back as you found it. Be sure to seal it up tight and make sure it is closed all the way. Be mindful of any passing trucks that might spot you. Rockland County’s Solid Waste facility is up the road a short distance and they can be the curious type.

The container itself is custom built & painted to blend in with the surroundings. I designed this one to be a bit of a challenge.

Due to its large size this cache is a great place for placing Travel Bugs & Geocoins. I’ve provided a special envelope for them in the cache. There are many swag items for trade including LED flashlights, ear buds, key chains, whistles, toys and more.

I’ve placed a $10 iTunes gift card in the cache attached to the log book for the FTF. I also put in two of my own Geocoins to get the ball rolling.

Gave this one a very quick look, but came up empty. We got a few stares from cars and trucks at the waste facility, and felt a little awkward. Maybe we'll try again soon.

I looked about but didn't see anything. This one eludes me!

Second of two found today on my way to HSP (and without a GPS).

Had a strange experience. As I sat on the old bridge signing into the log, I noticed a new and clean (perfect looking) white van with side doors parked nearby. The solo passenger was a man who was watching me. As soon as I looked at him- he drove away.

Initially I was worried that the hide was compromised. So, I put the cache back and prepared to leave. I had stowed my rather large backpack in the bushes and when I went to retrieve it I was also hidden. I got really creeped out when I saw that the same white van had circled around and was back. It did not stop- I guess the guy thought that I was gone, but I was able to get the license plate number. Paranoid- maybe too many episodes of prime-time police dramas. Maybe not. I'm just saying-be careful.

Oh, by the way, good job on the container. Torne Valley is going to set the bar high.

Thanks to a helpful tip from BriGuyNY I was able to track down the contents of the cache & put them back where they belong! Cache is repaired & back online. I put a bunch of new swag in the cache including a few small flashlights, some ear buds & some other miscellaneous items. Thanks again for the help BriGuyNY! All Geocoins are now accounted for as well! :) No harm done! I'll drop off a few new TB's later this week!

It looks like someone put back improperly at some point which left it vulnerable to muggles and or bad weather. Contents have indeed gone missing. Probably blown away by the wind in the severe weather we had this weekend. I will restock cache this afternoon with a new log and goodies. Sorry for any inconvenience.
