Geocache Description:

This is the Starting Line Cache from the 2nd Annual GBES Navigational Geocache Rally

This is where the night rally began.

We chose this site for a variety of reasons: we wanted to give the participants a scenic place to begin the rally, there was a great place to perform Rally School and it gave everyone an opportunity to get a glimpse of the tail-end of the infamous 40-Mile Desert section of the Emigrant Trail which passes just west of the lake on its way to the Carson River.
