Geocache Description:

2014 Discover L&A County MEGA Geocaching Event

GEOCACHERS WORLD-WIDE, MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

Head to Napanee for the 2014 Discover Lennox & Addington County MEGA Geocaching Event!

Southview Public School
August 22 & 23, 2014
18 Golf Course Lane, Napanee

The very successful ‘2013 Discover Lennox & Addington Geocaching Event’ has become one of only five communities in Canada to achieve ‘Mega-Event’ status. More than 500 people attended two-days of festivities. Participants travelled to L&A County from throughout Eastern Ontario, and included large contingents from Ottawa, Toronto, and as from far away as New York State and Pennsylvania. Immediately after the event, the log book containing the names of attendees was submitted to Groundspeak and achieved approval for Mega-Event status soon after!

The success of this tourism initiative wouldn’t have been possible without the strong support of the Lennox & Addington County Geocachers. Lead by tireless volunteers Joe and Theresa Tisdale (Coman123), the group continues to make L&A County a great place for first-time and returning geocaching visitors by frequently adding new hidden treasures throughout the county. With more than 1,200 geocaches found within county borders, Lennox & Addington is a ‘go to’ location for geocachers.

One of the main goals of the “Discover L&A County MEGA Geocaching Event” is to take residents and visitors on a tour of our County using geocaches as reference points. The event was hosted by the County of Lennox & Addington and the L&A County Geocachers. Since teaming up in 2011, the duo have hosted events annually and continue to make L&A County a year-round destination for geocaching enthusiasts.

Plans have already begun in preparation for next year’s festivities, taking place on August 22nd & 23rd, 2014. Geocachers visiting L&A County can expect more fun activities at the 2014 Discover Lennox & Addington County MEGA Geocaching Event.
