Time to take a walk. A walk both through history and the city of
Borås.
The coordinates will lead you to a place in the vicinity of
Borås Centralstation, today the only railway station in
Borås, built in 1880 by WBJ - Varberg-Borås
Järnväg. It was primary used as a station for cargo
trains in the beginning and was called Borås Nedre (Lower
Borås). If you look around, you will find the coordinates to
the second and final step in this multicache - Borås
Övre (Upper Borås). Borås Övre was the first
railroad station in Borås, built as a part of BHJ -
Borås-Herrljunga Järnväg - in 1863. It was used
solely as a passenger terminal, all the cargo was loaded and
unloaded at Borås Nedre in cooperation with WBJ. In February
of 1866, a fire struck in the north east corner of the station's
attic. The fire spread quickly and most of the top floor was
destroyed. However, it was soon decided that the station should be
rebuilt with the help of 20.000 riksdaler in insurance
reimbursement. In 1930, BHJ and WBH merged and formed VBHJ -
Varberg-Borås-Herrljunga Järnväg. This resulted in
Borås Övre beeing degraded to a simple train stop, and
Borås Nedre was renamed Borås Central. As a stop for
almost all regional train traffic, Borås Övre survived
until May 11:th, 1968, when all scheduled traffic siezed. From then
on, the beautiful house has been used for other purposes. The cache
is a 0.8l Curver replica containing some stuff. You know the drill.
Note: when on site, act very discreet! If possible, try to take
both caches in the evening to avoid unnecessary attention. You do
NOT have to cross any railroad tracks on either location.
