Geocache Description:

Solve the birdsong puzzle, then put your newly found birdsong identification skills to the test on this nice TVA public trail.

Bird identification by sight is a special skill developed by careful observation and patience, stalking through the wilds with binoculars in hand. Just as challenging, but arguable more enjoyable is identification by sound. Most of the songbirds in the area have distinctive songs that they use throughout the breeding season, letting all the world know where their territories lie. By learning the songs of various species, you can open up a new world of birding, identifying warblers up in the canopies of trees well out of sight of any scope or binocular. Master these skills, and you prove yourself a naturalist.

The posted coordinates are for a parking area in front of the Lenoir Museum and can be used to access the TVA's Songbird Trail (see link) across the street. The TVA has designed this public use trail to be particularly friendly for songbirds, providing many kinds of habitats and native plants that are favored by local birds. Follow the link below to a video with several birdsongs in it. To solve the puzzle identify each birdsong and use the images below to fill in the numbers for each bird species. The resultant coordinates will lead you to a field puzzle where you can test your bird identification skills once again.
