Geocache Description:

Start at the intersection of Interstate 10 and HWY 231, North of Panama City. Travel South on 231 for 15.6 miles. Turn Right (West) at Scott Road. Travel along Scott Road for 2.6 miles, staying to the right at the fork/split. Look for the Florida Trails sign along the road on the left (there are also orange blazes on the telephone poles along the road, that lead you to the trailhead). Turn down the small dirt road by the sign and travel .2 miles to the trail head parking area.

This cache is located along the new Econfina Creek/Silver Lakes hiking trail, North of Panama City. The trail system parallels Econfina Creek for the first 12 miles, then turns SW through the Sandhill Lakes area. Cache container is a clear plastic cookie jar with a white screw-on lid. It contains goodies and pen/log book. It is located about 1.7 miles from the trailhead. Terrain is rolling hills, several wetland crossings and areas of Pine flatwoods. Several crossings of Econfina Creek and it's tributaries are required on makeshift bridges. Unfortunately the trail just beyond the cache site becomes nearly impassable due to deadfall timber from recent storms, although you could go further South with some SERIOUS bushwhacking. Bring lots of water and bug spray. Plan to have lunch at the beautiful waterfall near the cache site.
