Prepping for another Grand Canyon hike. Also wanted to see what the South Bay wildflowers were doing. Ended up hiking 9.3 miles at Calero today. Got some nice photos. Had to wade a couple creeks. Trails were muddy in places. The turkeys and butterflies were out. And the wildflowers are starting their display. Another week of warm weather after all the record rains we have gottne should make for an impressive flower bloom this year.

Geocache Description:

A decon can just off trail in Calero County Park.

The oak grasslands of our local hills always seem to sooth and inspire me. Approaching this cache site from above, pause to admire the views to the south. Oaks, rolling grasses, abundant wildflowers in the early spring.

The limbs of this old giant of an oak reminded me of a hand, cupped and reaching down to the earth, craddling the air. Take a few minutes to admire this ancient.

When placed, the area was full of thistles. Good luck if you are wearing shorts!
