Le Canal de Nervaux

L’eau est omniprésente dans le paysage troyen. Le canal de Nervaux est un prolongement du Ru Cordé qui est né d’une dérivation de la Seine et du canal des Trévois créé au XIIème siècle par Henri 1er le Libéral et destiné à alimenter le Palais des Comtes de Champagne. La partie Est de la ville est entourée d’eau par le bras inférieur de la Seine qui ceinture la Tête du Bouchon, les vestiges du canal de la Haute seine et le Ru Cordé. Les eaux du canal de Nervaux rejoignent la Seine par les deux arches appelées « Le joli Saut».

The water has a real strong presence in Troyes landscape. The canal de Nervaux is the continuation of the “Ru Cordé” (Cordé brook) that is itself from a Seine detour and the Trévois channel, created in the XII° C. by Henri 1er le Libéral to provide the Counts de Champagne palace. The eastern part of the city is surrounded by the water by the Seine low detour which make a turn around the head of the “Champagne Cork*”, the former Haute Seine channel and the ‘Ru Cordé”. The Nervaux channel waters are joining the Seine River by two arcs called “le Joli Saut”. *Champagne Cork: amazing but true shape of the city view to the sky
