Come out and celebrate Earth Day with your fellow cachers at a
pancake breakfast this April 22nd.
We all try to keep public spaces clean as we are finding and
logging caches on our own, but let’s get together and make a
focused effort at a few selected sites to help clean up
Winnipeg.
At the breakfast, there will be pancakes, sausages, juice and
coffee. If you intend to bring something, please consider a
deadline of Tuesday, April 18 for logging it (to allow us time to
shop for the leftover stuff). I realize that there isn't much else
needed to bring to a table that already has pancakes, sausages,
fruit, muffins, and a hashbrown casserole, but I think that having
an egg dish (a fritatta or casserole) would be appropriate for
those who aren't into pancakes - I KNOW, crazy! It's fine if you don't bring something,
just increase your donation by that amount.
It looks like the CITO portion is going to work out very well (Take
Pride Winnipeg has given us some supplies!), and the plans for the
caching portion are really cool!
Please bring:
- Another item to the table if you choose to.
- A small donation to offset the cost of the hall and breakfast
items ($5 per caching team, or $3 per individual will likely cover
our expenses) But please feel free to give what you think the
breakfast is worth to you ;), we'd love to have a "slush
fund"!
- Your appetite and yourself (come early if you're willing to
help flip pancakes)please email Tannasaurus directly if you intend
to help early.
Following the breakfast we will be combining our CITO efforts
with a competition to win some great prizes. There will be 4
physical caches launched to commemorate this event. That will be a
total of 5 finds for the day if you also log the event.
Date: April 22nd, 2006
Time: 9:00 AM – 1:30 PM
Breakfast Location: At the posted co-ordinates (hint -
it's a DIFFERENT Church in Fort Garry!)
CITO Location: Nearby sites TBA
At the church, we will be having a short meeting about CITO, and
there are several people/caching groups who want to have an
opportunity to speak to the group. (TurtleEggs is bringing the
Scrabble prizes, and will be presenting them to the winners!) After
breakfast, we will all pitch in and tidy up the hall (sorry, but
it's not fair for some to get an early start on the race!), THEN
we'll explain the rules and give out the coordinates you'll
need.
When the game/race part is over, we will all meet at St. Vital
Park's "Duck Pond Parking Lot" for a tailgate party, and for the
judging to occur. (I was going to rent one of the outdoor
pavillions, but I'm too cheap to rent "air and a roof" for $85.00.)
The race will be limited to a specific amount of time, and you will
be deducted points if you're late for the judging. (ooh - she's
mean!)
I will be dividing everyone into teams in advance, so if you have a
preference for who is on your team, email me soon. Otherwise,
please consider this as a great opportunity to go out with
different cachers, and get to know new people.
