A El Port de la Selva, cal fer un recorregut per 4 llocs del poble per tal d'obtenir les coordenades de l'ubicació final del caché. No hi ha gaire dificultats de terreny.
In El Port de la Selva, you have to take a walk by the center of the village, looking for 4 significant places where you will find the clues that drive you to the final cache location. No specific difficulties.
El Port de la Selva és un municipi situat a la comarca de l’Alt Empordà, a la zona del Cap de Creus. De fet, bona part del seu terme municipal es troba inclosa al Parc Natural del Cap de Creus, oferint un entorn molt apropiat per a la gent amant del turisme cultural en general i del senderisme en particular. A més a més s’hi troben en el terme varis monuments de gran interès, destacant sens dubte el monestir de Sant Pere de Rodes, però també cal mencionar l’església de Santa Helena, el poblat de Santa Creu de Rodes o el conjunt de Sant Baldiri de Taballera.
En aquest cache, però, hem volgut remarcar aspectes del nucli urbà més que no pas de l’entorn. La idea és remarcar alguns punts interessats del poble i lligar-los a les pistes que ens duran a la ubicació final del cache. Cal dir que aquest cache es pot fer caminant en unes 2h aproximadament, i és adequat per fer amb mainada. Per començar, recomanem deixar el cotxe al pàrquing municipal.

PISTA 1: EL PASSEIG VORA EL MAR
En un poble de costa no hi pot faltar un passeig al costat de la platja. En aquest passeig podreu trobar la primera pista. Es tracta d’un objecte de valor històric. Cal que mireu l’any indicat i concretament la seva darrera xifra.

PISTA 2: L’ESGLÉSIA
L’església del Port de la Selva no és especialment antiga, ja que data del segle XVIII, de l’època en que el poble es va segregar de la població veïna de La Selva de Mar. De tota manera és un monument que destaca i que és molt visible en qualsevol de les pintoresques vistes frontals de la localitat (veure imatge). Per tant considerem que no són necessàries les coordenades. Us haureu de fixar en la roseta que apareix sobre la porta principal, i comptar el nombre de zones en què sembla dividida.

PISTA 3: ELS INTEL•LECTUALS RELACIONATS AMB EL POBLE
El Port de la Selva va esdevenir, al llarg del segle XX, un centre d’estiueig i de segona residència, especialment per a estiuejants de Barcelona. Varis escriptors i intel•lectuals van passar llargues temporades al poble, on van desenvolupar part de la seva activitat. Entre ells podem destacar Josep M. de Segarra, que va ambientar al poble la seva obra teatral El Café de la Marina, el poeta J.V.Foix i Alexandre Plana.
La tercera pista ens durà a un punt relacionat amb un d’aquests intel•lectuals (veure imatge). Heu d’anotar la darrera xifra del número de la casa.

PISTA 4: LES PLATGES I CALES
No podem oblidar de cap manera les nombroses platges disponibles al municipi, moltes d’elles fàcilment accessibles a peu o en bicicleta des del poble. N’hi ha per a tots els gustos: sorra, pedres, etc. Una característica important és que n’hi ha de diferents orientacions (orientades a l’est, a l’oest, al nord), i això permet poder triar la platja més adient en funció de les condicions de vent, sol, etc.
La pista 4 ens durà a una de les zones de cales del poble, en concret a un lloc situat entre 2 cales des del qual podreu gaudir d’una bona vista de la badia del Port de la Selva. Haureu de comptar el nombre de graons que ens porten a aquest mirador.

EL CACHE
El podreu trobar en un indret on gaudireu d’una bonica vista, però a l’estiu intenteu evitar les hores centrals del dia si no voleu quedar rostits. Si estem en temporada (febrer-abril) podreu caçar-hi uns quants espàrrecs a la zona del cache. Cal remarcar que al Port de la Selva se celebra, e l segon diumenge de març, la Fira de l’Espàrrec, que va començar l’any 2009 i que gaudeix d’una bona participació.

El Port de la Selva is a small village placed in the Alt Empordà region, near Cape of Creus. In fact, most of El Port de la Selva’s municipal district is included in the Cape of Creus’ Natural Park, offering an environment suitable for people that loves cultural tourism and trekking. Some interesting monuments are placed in this municipal district: the chapels of St. Baldiri de Taballera and Sta. Helena de Rodes, the medieval village of Sta. Creu de Rodes, and, standing out among them, the monastery of St. Pere de Rodes. In this cache, however, we aim at emphasizing some aspects of the El Port de la Selva’s city centre rather than the village environment. Such aspects have been linked to the clues that will drive us to the cache final location. This cache can be found by food in about 2h, and it is appropriate for children. 1st CLUE: THE SEAFRONT A seaside village must have a seafront. In the El Port de la Selva’s seafront we will be able to find the first clue, which is placed in an object with historical value. You have to write down the last figure of the year written on this object. 1st CLUE COORDINATES: N 42º20.196’ E 003º12.207’ A= last figure of the year placed on the same object.
2nd CLUE: THE CHURCH The El Port de la Selva’s church is not very old, since it dates from the 18th century, when the village segregated from the neighbour village of La Selva de Mar. Anyway, the church is worth to be visited and it is visible in any of the picturesque front views of the village (see image). Thus, we consider that no coordinates are required to find it. You have to pay attention to the rosette placed above the main door of the church, and to count the parts in which such a rosette seems to be divided. 3rd CLUE: THE INTELLECTUAL PEOPLE RELATED TO THE VILLAGE El Port de la Selva became, along the 20th century, a common holiday location for well-off people from Barcelona. Several writers and intellectual people spent long periods in the village, where they developed part of their activity. It is worth to mention Josep M. de Segarra, who set in the village his play “El Café de la Marina”, the poet J.V. Foix, and the critic Alexandre Plana. The third clue will take us to a place related to one of these intellectual people (see image). 4rth CLUE: THE BEACHES We cannot miss the numerous beaches available near the village. Many of them are easily accessible by food or bicycle from the village. There are sand beaches, stone beaches, etc. An important feature is that they have different orientations (north, west, east), allowing people to choose the most appropriate beach according to wind conditions, sun position, etc. The forth clue will lead us to a zone of small and nice beaches, and specifically to a place between 2 of these beaches where you will enjoy a very nice view over El Port de la Selva’s bay. THE CACHE At the final location of the cache you can enjoy a nice view. In summer, try to avoid the hours near noon in order not to suffer extreme heat. Between February and April you can find, apart of the cache, some wild asparagus that you can fry and eat in an omelette or a salad. By the way, it is worth to mention that each year, the second Sunday of March, the Asparagus Fair is held on El Port de la Selva. Such a fair started in 2009 and has been quite successful in its first editions.
