Uireung
Uireung is the tomb of Gyeongjong(1688-1724; r. 1720-1724), the 20th king of Joweon, and his second wife, Queen seonui.
The eldest son of King Sukjong (r. 1674 - 1720) and a royal concubine, Gyeongjong was born in the Chwiseondang house at Changdeokgung Palace. He was designated crown prince in 1690 at the age of three and participated in the actual ruling of the Country from 1717. Upon the death of his father in 1720, Gyeongjong ascended the throne in a coronation ceremony held at Sungjeongmun, Gyeongdeokgung Palace. Gyeongjong had always been very weak and had no heir. Two months after his enthronement, he designated Prince Yeoning (King Yeongj) crown Prince. In 1724, Gyeongjong died at Hwanchwijeong, Changgyeonggung Palace.
