A fun hike in Big Cottonwood Canyon that has views, beavers and
moose - what more could you want?
This cache has a theme of thing that light up (or glow) your life -
so it is currently well stocked with flashlights and penlights. The
cache is located in one of our favorite places up Big Cottonwood
Canyon. The hike is about 1 mile with an elevation gain of 550'.
Start at the trailhead for Willow Heights Trailhead (N 40' 37.821"
W 111' 36.278"). Head northeast up the trail until the Beaver pond,
make sure you turn around a few times to enjoy the view over
Solitude Ski Resort. At the Beaver pond you can either cross the
Beaver dam or go counter clockwise around the dam (much longer).
The cache is west of the pond.

This is a great cache. I'm amazed the log book has stayed dry over the last 5 years given how much snow this area gets. My wife got a kick out of reading all of the log entries.

we appoached this cache the hard way. in a strait line .35 miles from the willow heights cache up on the ridge. there were a couple of meandering game trails but they didn't pan out so we bushwacked. as we came out of the trees we saw several familys of ducks with little ones hanging out in the lake. they fled to the other side too quickly for us to get pictures but it was cool anyway. thanks for this fun cache!
