Geocache Description:

Visit the cool, shady woods at the head of French Joe Canyon.

Double or Nothing is one of this area's older caches, placed back in 2002. It's located in French Joe Canyon at the base of the Whetstone Mountains, not far from a spring that attracts all manner of birds and wildlife.

To reach the cache, you'll need a high-clearance vehicle or 4WD. Turn off Highway 90 at the wooden French Joe Canyon sign and follow the rough dirt road toward the mountains, ignoring side roads. When you get to within a half mile of the cache, consider parking and hiking the rest of the way if you're driving a 2WD vehicle. More-capable vehicles can continue on another quarter-mile or so, where a sign and a small parking area mark the official end of the road.

The short hike to the cache will take you through a surprisingly lush mini-forest and past a concrete wildlife-watering trough fed by French Joe Spring. If you lose GPS reception, just follow the trail uphill and to the southwest until you're out of the trees.

The cache, originally a large, plastic bucket, is now a sturdy ammo can nestled at the base of a tree. The original cache description, contents and hint are preserved in a maintainer note below.

Enjoy!
