Geocache Description:

Pi Day celebrates the mathematical number/constant, that was originally defined as the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, but it now has various equivalent definitions and appears in many formulas in all areas of mathematics and physics. It is approximately equal to 3.14159. It has been represented by the Greek letter "π" since the mid-18th century, though it is also sometimes spelled out as "pi".  Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th around the world, because 3, 1, and 4 are the first three significant digits of π.

Let's Celebrate Pi Day!

DATE: Wednesday, March 14, 2018

TIME: 6:00 to 6:30pm (you are welcome to stay longer)

LOCATION: Dunkin' Donuts, 2519 E 53rd St, Davenport, IA

If you divide the circumference of a circle by its diameter 'D' (or by its radius 'R' doubled), the result is pi (π)!

Pi

We'll supply one $1.00 bill to each geocaching-ID owner so that they might test out this math with a circle (I.E. a DONUT, Munchkins® donut hole, or other round item) and prove that it is correct!

Yum!

There will also be a drawing for ONE door prize.

Please include the number of people attending in your 'Will Attend' logs.

*Update* (2-27-2018) Attendees who solve a couple of easy, ‘pi’-related math problems at the event, will have the opportunity to find a new, unpublished cache for a CO-FTF!😊

(Note: We were informed by the Iowa Admin that the practice of intentionally distorting/changing ratings, particularly for events, violates the rules. Thus this event’s ‘T’ rating will remain a ‘1’.)
