Geocache Description:

Photobucket Peaceful new little park, with river, woods, and limestone cliffs. Parking off 598. Trails mostly smooth, but hilly. The steepest trails are not necessary to the search.

Traditional cache, close to trail, since park rules require you to stay on the path. This park can hold water after rains. Park is often empty. Regular Ammo Box. Take time to walk down the steep trail by the cliffs just for fun. At the park entrance you can see a trail map. This was an Indian camping spot along the river. HISTORICAL NOTE: from the cache, if you COULD walk north through the river to the road you would only be 5 - 600' from Col. Crawford's capture site, monument included, and then you could drive up north of Upper Sandysky to Goat6500's cache called BATTLE ISLAND and see his other notable monument and cache there also, but you can't so you have to drive around the corner and find the monument. END HISTORICAL NOTE. Contents:Serenity block,Wendy's deep fried salad lid, phoneman, doglady, scarecrow, signature butterfly ,3 Barneys, misc. stuff, it's very full. In April, new park displays appeared, and indicate the exact beginning of the Sandusky River. 11/01/04 new swag, new ammo box. Photobucket This cache was placed Sept.'03, has existed continuously, and is the oldest cache in the area.
