Off the road again:
Just can't wait to get off the road again.
The life I love is goin' wheelin' with my friends,
And I can't wait to get off the road again.
Off the road again:
Goin' places that I've never been.
Seein' things that I may never see again,
And I can't wait to get off the road again.
Off the road again,
Like a band of gypsies, we escape the highway.
We'll choose hard terrain,
Insisting that the rocks be right in our way,
And our way:
Is off the road again:
Just can't wait to get off the road again.
The life I love is goin' wheelin' with my friends,
My Jeep can't wait to get off the road again.
Off the road again,
Like a bunch of crazies, we spend all day out here.
Sometimes parts remain,
Since the drivers don't always get their way,
And our way:
Is off the road again. |
The reason for the high terrain rating
is that this is within a 4x4 park: specialized equipment is needed.
I use a Jeep. Other choices are ATVs, dirt bikes, or some other
4-wheel drive vehicle. The gate fee will vary with club membership,
date of visit, etc. Check with Paragon for your fee details and for their
abbreviated winter hours.
From 924, take Maplewood, and then
take Oak Ridge to Paragon's entrance road, where the pavement
ends.
The cache-trail widens about 400 feet
west of the cache, so you can park your vehicle at the wide spot
and not block the trail for other vehicles. If you are in a large
group, this could be a great place for them to stop for lunch and
for you to search for the cache.
What if I am an inexperienced
off-roader?
Don't worry. You have a choice of accessing this cache via tame
trails (a Jeep straight from the factory can handle them), or via a
more hardcore route. You just choose your poison. Remember that you
can park your vehicle any time the terrain gets too tough (as long
as you are not creating a roadblock), and you can walk the rest of
the way.
What if I don't have any type of
4x4 vehicle?
You can park your 8-door sedan or Harley Davidson or any other
cachemobile at the parking lot and walk in. This means you walk a
bit more, but you may not have to pay the gate fee.
