Geocache Description:

On Saturday, May 1, 2010 the National Coal Heritage Area will unveil the Coal Heritage GeoTrail during a special kickoff event. The Coal Heritage GeoTrail consists of sixteen caches within the National Coal Heritage Area in southern West Virginia. Each cache is located at a point of natural or historic significance. The GeoTrail will enlighten geocachers on lesser-known facets of coal country such as mine wars, Native American history, and natural disasters. All geocachers who complete the entire Coal Heritage GeoTrail will be eligible to receive a commemorative patch.

The event begins at 9:00am and will be a great time to meet up with other geocachers from around the region. We will have great food available, fun games for the whole family, educational sessions, and other special activities during the event.

This event is free and will be held at the Maxwell Hill Community Center in Beckley. Visit www.paintcreekscenictrail.com/geo.html for the latest information, and to RSVP for this event. Please RSVP so that we can plan a better event. E-mail any questions to vistaronn@yahoo.com .
