The Outback Traditional Cache

The Outback.....Terrain Rating of 4 due to length of hike.

Hey mates, do ya feel like taking a walkabout in the Outback. If so, here's your chance. Start your adventure from the Lake Brandt Greenway at N36 09.370 W079 51.424 and follow the Owl's Roost Trail to the Outback.
Be extremely careful on your way to the Outback, because you will be travelin' through the Great Horned Owl's territory. It is rumored that this big raptor now has a nest or cache somewhere along this trail.

The Owl's Roost Trail is a well maintained bicycle trail that runs 5.2 miles from Bur-Mill Park back to the Lake Brandt Greenway. The distance from the trailhead, on the Lake Brandt Greenway, to the Outback is approximately 2.5 miles. Although, this is a long hike, you can visit the Great Horned Owl cache on the way if he will allow it.

Great views of Lake Brandt can be found along this trail. Also, your dog will enjoy this hike. Just watch for the bikers and move off the trail when being approached.
