This cache has been archived.

Nomex: Hi
As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm temporarily archiving this to keep it from continually showing up in search lists. Just contact us when you have the cache repaired, [RED]and assuming it still meets the guidelines[/RED], we'll be happy to unarchive it.

Don't hesitate to email me via the link on my Profile if you have any questions. [red]Please be sure to include the cache name and GC Code, or better yet, the URL of the cache page.[/red]

Thanks for your cooperation!

Geocache Description:

3 mile hike up to the tree, then 3 miles down. 6034 ft. Large Sequoia!

The cache is a glass jar with a yellow lid. It contains a hair clip, cherry air head, nail file with additional fold out file, small deck of cards, sunscreen, Scooby Doo Bandaids, sm. Neosporin packets, chime ball, crayons and a teddy bear key chain. :) The tree was named after my grandparents who were volunteers at the Nelder Grove campground for over 20 years. This tree was my grandma's favorite one. She used to call it the "Bee Tree" because a bee hive was there for a few years. Take the trail to the left of the Chiminey Tree trailhead in Nelder Grove. Park in the large parking area after you pass the cabins on the left. You will pass a creek after about a mile up. (If you take the fork to the right it will lead you to a large sequoia named after John Nelder. It is about 300 yards back.) Continue taking the fork to the left. The last mile is exceptionally beautiful and pretty flat. Depending on the time or day and season you will be able to hear the Sugar Pine railroad. There is also a good view of Tenaya lodge. You can get to the tree from a different trail from Tenaya but I haven't hiked up from that direction. Hope you enjoy the hike.
