This is a traditional cache and is a small 750 ml LnL.
It is in walking distance and away from most muggles. You
have to cross a very narrow vehicle bridge to get to the island if
you follow auto routing. Place take it slow across this narrow
bridge and keep your eyes open. If you are afraid of the bridge or
your vehicle is too wide then you have to take the alternative road
at S34 03.204 min E22 13.677 and park your vehicle at the
designated parking area. Furthermore to find the cache you will
have to wade or swim across a river depending on
circumstances. There is a foot path near the cache.
The additional waypoint will show you where the original plaque
(now missing) was erected on the rocks for a brave person that made
the ultimate sacrifice. For nearly 30 years I visited this location
to pay my respect and to remember his brave action and for many
heroic incidents in my army days. This year (2009) the plaque is
gone due to some idiot that stole and sold the copper plate for a
couple of cents. I can’t remember the details on the original
plaque.
Johanes Dawson Theron saved 6 people from drowning that was caught
in a strong current. Six times he went into the sea and six times
he got one person back on land. On his seventh attempt and totally
exhausted he disappeared under the waves and he drowned at this
location. The original plaque is gone but this deed should be
remembered. A replacement is now fitted. If you were a witness to a
heroic deed or heard about such a deed please feel free to publish
it, if it is sensitive please change the names of the persons
involved.
