Geocache Description:

The CITO Event will be Saturday April 25th 10:00AM to 11:30AM.

I started this little project March 11, 2015 thinking I had plenty of time. Boy was I wrong!! . First, I contacted Huntington Beach State Park. When we visited the park we found that it was a very clean park but I was hoping the back areas could use help.  After a management meeting they decided they really didn’t have enough work to warrant free admission. Then I called the Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation Dept. …Didn’t get too far with them. Seems most or all the parks are in great condition. Drove around for days in Myrtle Beach but found it really is a pretty clean city!!!

I called back the Myrtle Beach Parks and Recreation Center to ask again where we could make the best impact for our community. I was asked to consider the Myrtle Beach Post Office.  Although the Federal Government is responsible for the upkeep of the building and grounds it seems that the funds are limited. The Postmaster General was pleased to hear that we would consider helping them out.

I understand that this isn’t the standard CITO parks or trails event with picnic tables and numerous caches to be found, but being 2-3 blocks from the Beach, the Boardwalk, the Skywheel, and other tourist attractions we would like this to be a pleasant environment for our locals as well as our guests.

The CITO Event will be Saturday April 25th 10:00AM to 11:30AM.

The Main Post Office is located at 505 N Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577. The property encompasses one city block between 5th and 6th Ave North and North Oak Street and North Kings Highway.  Built in the 1980’s it is the oldest post office in the Myrtle Beach area, serving 42,486 addresses in a 3 zip code area. They presently have 65 employees. Behind them sets a triangle shaped piece of land that we will be cleaning up as well.

This area really needs our attention………..

This is one way that we can help our community and earn our “CITO” souvenir.  This will be a rain or shine event.

Trash bags will be provided.  Bring your gloves and any other protective items (i.e.: sunscreen, bug spray, hat, etc.). If you love raking leaves….bring your rake.  Water and snacks will be provided.

When posting your “will attend” please indicate how many will participate. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
