I was snow-bound over Christmas 2008, and I was hoping for an
interesting puzzle cache or two to be posted. I didn't see any, so
I decided to post a new cache of my own.
The cache is not at the posted location. The posted location is
irrelevant to the cache, except that it is the location of a local
club, and you will need to add some of the below offsets to this
location in order to find the final.
Your mission is to join the club. Once you have joined the club,
you will know how to find this cache. Based on the offsets below,
you will be able to go from the posted coords to the final
coords.
My goal is that this cache should be a little tricky, but not
too difficult. Therefore, I plan to add a little more to the
description page from time to time to help get the difficulty set
just right.
Use this list of club members/non-members to deduce who
qualifies for the club. Then, apply to the posted coordinates all
of the offsets below that are shown for club members. This gives
you the final location. Happy Hunting!
Aaron Burr is in the club, but Martin van Buren is not.
Calvin Coolidge is in the club, but John Adams is not.
Virginia Woolf is in the club, but T S Eliot is not.
Detective Inspector James Japp is in the club, but Hercule Poirot
is not.
Mick Jagger is in the club, but Keith Richards is not.
Leonard McCoy is in the club, but James T. Kirk is not.
William Shatner is in the club, but Leonard Nimoy is not.
Table Tennis is in the club, but Badminton is not.
Jerry Lewis is in the club, but Groucho is not.
NOTE: Pay careful attention to the plus and minus
signs when you do your math!

UPDATE August 2010: I have had to move the final cache
location. I did not update the puzzle or geochecker. After you
solve the puzzle, subtract 0.022 from North, and subtract 0.016
from west. The new location is probably not as difficult as the
3-star terrain rating would suggest.
