Menehune Man: Well, it's 9/11 so I figure all that would've logged in, would've by now.
Thanks again all! For all you did.

Geocaching Event to coincide with "Lunar Eclipse Viewing Party"
at Bishop Museum on Monday night August 27th.
Sunday 7/29/07 Newspaper clip announcement!

All Geocachers are invited to help conduct an...

"Introduction to Geocaching!".

In order to set up we'll meet at 9pm.
The doors open at 9:30pm and the event runs through 1:30am.
Visitors will pay $3 per person with free parking.

Hawaii will be in a prime spot to watch the eclipse, with the moon high overhead and in dark skies. Total eclipses are beautiful to behold. The moon's appearance darkens into an eerie copper color as the light from the sun is filtered through the earth's atmosphere and indirectly reaches the moon.

The eclipse reaches totality at 11:52pm. We should be through with our part of the program by then.

Ceres, Professor of Astronomy and 'cacher:
Will give presentations on a space theme and on Geocaching too.

BPer, Member of the Hawaiian Astronomical Society and 'cacher:
Will bring one of a few large telescopes, that'll be there to share.

We'll have a "Show and Tell" table set up with various cache containers, types of contents, and handouts. Some of us will be stationed there to light-heartedly talk about our sport to interested individuals.

This will also be our meeting / starting point for Geo-Instructors. Bring your GPSrs to lead small groups on one of three temporary cache hunts in safe, easy hides around the Great Lawn area.
Menehune Man provided the cache containers and coords.

Also Volcano House - Oahu official cache is in place!

With your "Will Attend" note, let us know if you're volunteering and we'll geo-mail a secret password to get you in for free!

Offering to bring items for the table or to be stationed there? Willing to lead cache hunts? Donating small swag to refill the hidden ones? Bringing printed handouts? Or even pointing people in our direction? Small flashlights will come in handy.

EVENT NIGHT!
August 28 by Ceres: Great to meet so many new people. Thanks, MenehuneMan for doing all the hard work. All I had to do was tell a few bad jokes to a captive audience. And thanks to Carolyn Kaichi, manager of the Bishop Mueseum Planetarium for inviting us to incorporate geocaching into her eclipse event.

Would you...
Write a story of event and send photos to Geocacher Magazine?!
There were just under 600 attendees that night!

WHAT A WONDERFUL SUCCESS!
