Me tinks the one who hid this is a wee bit of a Sadist!
Easy find for me today (45 min. in & out) as ground is frozen with very little snow and a sunny -7 Celsius.
Dog and I enjoyed the hike in and could pretty much go straight at it.
This cache scared me a bit when I first read about it, but I noticed almost all the horror
stories were in bug season. I would not even attempt this unless ground was frozen or bugs were gone!
Thanks for the leisurely walk in the woods!

Wow....I certainly didn't do this cache the easy way...lol
First of all...I decided I needed a couple of caches for a Mini-Fizzy cache that we'll be hiking past this weekend during the BT Hike. And since I work during the day, the only way to get the appropriate smileys in time, would be to do a little night-caching! I figured we'd been without rain long enough, and that it was just cold enough that I could get to this one without getting my feet wet..and set out, flashlight & headlamp in hand with just my hiking shoes on. I would regret that, especially since the rubber boots were sitting nice and dry in the truck. I parked at the suggested coordinates, and followed the snowmobile trail all the way east, parallel to the canal, and kept a look out for a way across, and finally at 200+m past the cache, found a piece of metal that had been conveniently left spanning the canal. I carefully made my way across, quite proud of myself for staying dry so far. It was still 250m to the cache, and for a bit it seemed that I'd make it there dry, since the ground seemed just cold enough to make the wet and muddy spots easy to navigate. I even managed to avoid the deep grasses as well......until 50m from the cache. In the dark it's really hard to pick a good way through a swamp area like this and before long I started hitting wet spots, and just before I hit that nice raised dry area where the cache is located, I ended up mid-calf in freezing cold water, with grasses two feet past the top of my head. All of a sudden this wasn't fun anymore...and I was missing those rubber boots bad...lol Finding the cache was easy enough....but I wasn't looking forward to the bushwack back out to the canal. The route in from the canal was anything but straight as I tried my best to avoid getting wet, but now that I was soaked, and my feet were freezing...I headed in a straight line through everything that stood in my way. By the time I got back to my way across the canal, I was wet up to my *ss! I hoofed it from there....hoping to get back to the truck and the heater before I lost feeling in my toes...lol...and in my haste ended up stepping in a soft spot of the trail that left my feet a foot deep in black muck! It just keeps getting better....lol!
So I earned my smiley tonight, and won't forget this one for awhile....
Thanx for the fun....

We were staying in Lagoon city, so we decided to start with this cache. WOW good thing we did. It took us almost an hour and a half round trip.

What an area!

Saw some pike in the shallows, ducks, and Canada Geese.

Left a postcard for Blue Quasar.

Thank for the work out...
