Geocache Description:

This cache has been placed for the event  Spring Caching in the Highlands 2007   please do not look for / log until Saturday 21st April 2007 :)

This cache will take you to a location where two of the Brahan Seers prophesies can be seen to have come true,  The Caledonian Canal and Tomnahurich Hill.

The Seer said more than a hundred years before the canal was built (commenced in 1803 and completed in 1822)  that "the time will come when full-rigged ships will be seen sailing eastwards and westwards by the back of Tomnahurich near Inverness".  The canal was to provide a safe water passage for ships of the Royal Navy during the Napoleonic War.

"that the day will come when Tomnahurich, " or, as he called it, Tom-na-sithichean, or the Fairy Hill, "will be under lock and key, and the Fairies secured within." It would hardly assist him in foreseeing the beautiful and unique cemetery on the top of the hill, and the spirits (of the dead) chained within, as we now see it.
