RED 5: This one had a good run. in fact much longer than I ever expected it to! I just realized that it's almost 5 years to the day that I hid it. I love it when I can retire a cache by choice, rather than because it went missing. I'll be placing another one soon in a different spot around Canaan Lake. Thanks to all who visited!

Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden near the shore of Canaan Lake in North Patchogue. It's a 26 acre, man-made lake with a maximum depth of 6 feet.

It's a great place to put-in with your kayak, canoe, or row-boat. You can fish from the cache area, or many other locations along the shore. The DEC stocks the lake with trout, but there are abundant quantities of largemouth bass, yellow perch, and chain pickerel as well.

The cache is a medium sized Lock-N-Lock containing a log book, pencils, pencil sharpener (please leave in the cache), some trade items, and a *SPECIAL FIRST-TO-FIND PRIZE*. This should be a quick park and grab.
