Geocache Description:

The Woodland ferry, as it is now known, is a state operated ferry that crosses the Nanticoke river in the town of Woodland. By the 1740's, there was a need to get across the river, so, James Cannon, began operating a ferry service. It was known as Cannon's Ferry. By 1883 it became a public ferry. The ferry is now maintained by the state and the area surronding it, by the locals. The ferry is closed on Thursdays from 10am to 12noon for service. It runs 7am-6:30pm daily. It is closed on some holidays and inclimate weather. You can access both sides of this from different directions, however the ferry may not always be running. Be sure to look for the Woodland Ferry cache--Laurel side. Happy Hunting.
