Geocache Description:

Due to proximity issues, the cache is located north of the tree. The tree is located just across the road from one of my favorite caches, "Ball Prairie School" GC2A974.

Be sure to take a look at the tree after finding the cache.

When I measured this tree, it came out large enough to be the current largest Shagbark Hickory in the state. The Wisconsin DNR keeps a list of the largest trees of each species, called "Wisconsin Champion Trees". Criteria for entry is based on a formula that includes circumference, height and crown spread. Unfortunately the web site to view the stats on all the trees is down right now.

This tree is also a Waymark in case you want to log that too.

December 12, 2012 The new hide style will make this one much harder to find in winter.
