Fire! Fire! Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

OReviewer: From the Northern Region Office, New Jersey State Parks Department:

Over a year ago New Jersey enacted a policy that all geocachers must obtain a permit to have their cache on State Park property. We have informed all geocaching host that this is their responsibility and have given them ample time to go about getting their permits. At this time, over a year later, there are still several caches that haven’t complied.

We ask that as the land managers for the attached properties we would like to have these illegal caches removed.

Based on the list provided by the state, I am forced to archive this listing. If you have a permit, get a permit or don't believe your cache is on state park/forest land, please contact me via email. Make sure you include the GC code.

If you don't plan to get a permit, please remove your geocache so it doesn't become geo-trash.

Geocache Description:

This Cache is located at the end of fire tower rd in Budd Lake. Drive all the way to the end of the dead end street. Parking is just pass the barricade. The easiest way to the cache is to cross the barricade and follow the dirt road up to the tower.

Please don't climb the fire tower, it is marked as trespassing! The cache is not on or around the tower.
I don't know much about the towers history other than it was Originally known in 1905 as the "95 Mile Tree Lookout" because of its location at Mile 95 of the old state turnpike on the west shore of New Jersey's largest fresh water lake, Budd Lake has served as a lookout point for 92 years. The current 60' steel Aermotor Model 60 tower with 7'X7' metal cab was constructed in 1924. It is the only lookout in the state equipped with an Osborne fire finder and is active.

The Cache is a standard ammo can, it shouldn't be to difficult to locate. If you stick to the dirt road, than no bush wacking is required until you get to GZ, and that is very minimal.
