Geocache Description:

This cache is on level ground but you have to cross a style to get there.

This has to be one of the flattest castles in Wales if not the world! Yet it really is the remains of a motte and bailey castle. Not only is it almost flat, but it only had a short lifetime of ten years. It was built by King Henry II in 1157. The Welsh Prince Owain Gwynedd razed the castle to the ground in around 1167. Sad story. But you can still see clear evidence of its existence. There is a footpath to the cache, but beware of the nettles! You have been warned!
