Fifth Annual Festivus for the Rest of Us!
Festivus is a relatively new holiday that is still developing
tradition. The most common elements are the Festivus Pole,
Festivus Feast, Festivus Fruitcake, Airing of Grievances and the
Feats of Strength.
Most Festivus celebrations today involve a party with a
feast. The feast can consist of whatever the party holders
decide, as there is no standard meal (e.g. turkey at
Thanksgiving). For decorations there is an aluminum pole that
is set up like a Christmas tree. Other decorations include
lights and other festive decorations. A Festivus Fruitcake is
on display for all to view but not eat! It is kept
from year to year as a display.
For our fifth annual foray into the realm of holiday dining, SJG
has decided to hold its soiree at Tomasello Winery on Sunday,
November 30th, starting at 1:30 PM. Our luncheon will be a
sit down meal and diners will have a choice of the following
menus:
Baked Chicken Breast Normandy (chicken breast with Walnuts,
Apples and Brown Sugar) ~or~ Seafood Crepe (Shrimp and Scallops
wrapped in a Light Luncheon Crepe with a Chardonnay Cream
Sauce). Each entree comes with a complimentary glass of wine;
salad; dinner roll; vegetable; rice; tuxedo truffle mousse cake,
coffee, soda and a variety of hot teas. The cost is $20.00 a head
including tax and gratuity. A children's menu of deep fried
chicken fingers, french fries, soda and dessert will also be
available for children 3 -12 years old for $15.00.
We are required to give a final guest count by November 10th -
so if you are attending, please post your intentions, number in
your party and entree choices in a cache page note no later than
noon on November 10th! Payment must be made in full and received no
later than Sunday, November 16th. You can send your payment

of the nature of this type of catering, we are regret to say that
no refunds can be issued after the November 10th final guest
head count deadline.
The Airing of Grievances will begin during lunch and conclude as
we move into the Feats of Strength, where all attendees will be
asked to play "Twas the Night before Festivus" and
"Dirty Santa." Please bring small, wrapped,
family-friendly "white elephant" gifts ranging in price from
$1-$5.00 in order to play. Much "oooh"-ing and "aaahh"-ing of
the Festivus Fruitcake will commence at 4:30pm as we pass by the
most fabulous Festivus fruitcake on our way out to go home.
