Geocache Description:

Mostly well marked trails. Some bushwhacking, easy terrain, except a bit of a hill between two of the waypoints.

You're Kiln Me Here

You're Kiln Me Here is a multi-cache. It is also part of a new series of caches that Draconis and I will be placing around southeast Wisconsin called "Hidden In Plain Sight" caches. These caches will not really be hidden. They may be camouflaged or in a spot you would not normally look. They may be disguised as something else or sitting between two other items. They may not be easy to find, but they will be in plain sight, as least from some angle. This particular cache takes you to spot to learn some early Wisconsin history, not a lot, but enough to keep it interesting. Most of the time, you'll be on well marked trails. Please be careful in the area that you will need to bushwhack. Do not disturb anything, and always check the area before taking the most direct route.

The first stage takes you to a historic place. There are signs here that give you a lot of information. Look around for a while, and when you're ready, proceed to stage two. This is another historic spot with signs to fill you in on the history. After you have the final coordinates, proceed to the final stage of the cache. Please replace exactly as you find it, and do not mention what type of "hidden in plain sight" cache it is, leave the mystery for the next cachers.

After you find it, give a yell, you'll notice something not expected in a spot like this, this, this. Please don't make too mush noise though, this area is used by a lot of hikers, bikers, etc. and you don't want other people to notice where the cache is placed. There is a lot of wildlife nearby, we've seen deer and wild turkey.

A partial list of the original items in the cache is: A Cache Camera - (Please take a picture, and leave the camera, I will post pictures for all to see. Describe who is in the picture in the log book, on geocaching.com, or in an e-mail to me), a clip watch, a Pokemon watch, 2 Glow in the dark Cyalume sticks, 2 super balls, a Richard Petty "Chex" car, a Rockem-Sockem Robots keychain, a Lego "Knights Kingdom" soldier, 2 bats, 2 skeletons, 2 spiders, a rubber chicken and a pair of dice.

Have fun and watch for more Hidden In Plain Sight Caches.

Update 1-25-09:
Sometime between October 18, 2008 and January 3, 2009, there was some thinning and logging of the 'Pine Plantation' and the cache and the hiding spot was lost. As the snow melts and more is revealed, we will try to find the original cache. Meanwhile we replaced it with another box, full of goodies and a new logbook. No cache camera however. Sorry!

Update 3-20-09:
We found out what the logging was all about. The cutting is to stop a red pine disease. We searched for the original cache. Success! We found the cache, which had moved by the logger before he had cut down nearby trees. We combined the caches and retrieved the cache camera. Cache on!

Important Update 3-25-20:
We decided to move the final cache be cause of more logging in the area. There were several trees close to the final that were marked for removal. When you acquire the final coordinates, you need to subtract an offset to find the new hiding spot.

For the North coordinates subtract 0.074, for the West subtract 0.044.
