Geocache Description:

A Linchpin fastens the wagon wheel onto the axle.  The site nearby is at the old town of Linchpin where the wagons would stop on the historic road from Arkansas to Springfield.  In the 1970's it was renamed Lakeview, once the dam was completed on the White River and lovely views were visible in the distance. Much of the land was owned by the Ayres family.  But in 1992 when Branson was booming as the "Live Music Capitol of the World", Lakeview changed its name to Branson West. Maybe tomatoes were grown here, and later the land was used for logging. Reeds Spring to the north has a Tomato Festival the first weekend in August and next comes Bonnie and Clyde Days in September. In the 1800's the Reeds Brothers found the area good for grazing cattle and the spring provided water for the herds coming through. In 1902 the Union Pacific RR came into town and aided in the shipment of tomatoes that were canned at local factories, such as the six owned by the Frank Mease family.

FTF can get a snack nearby.
