Mahon Falls in the Comeragh Mountains, County Waterford. Undulating gravel trail ending with a short uphill hike over mountain terrain.
The Mahon Falls can be found at the end of a picturesque valley in the Comeragh Mountains.
They are well signposted from the main Waterford to Dungarvan road and also on the Lemybrien to Carrick On Suir road near Mahonbridge.
There is a gravel trail leading to the falls which starts at the roadside carpark. As you walk into the valley, take note of the sheep high up on the near vertical slopes. If you are very lucky you may even spy one of the wild ferral goats who live permanently up there. The surrounding peaks all have heights of 700 metres+.
Don't forget to stop and look back at the brilliant views of the countryside below. On a clear day the Waterford coastline can be seen easily in the distance.
The cache is a small plastic canister. Please re-hide securely after logging. BYOP.
